Republicans for Kratovil

Decision making can be so tough!!

I am a Republican, but I just can not stand intolerant Andy.  And you know me by now.  I fashion myself as a sensible person.

I want to share with you the sensible Republicans supporting Frank Kratovil Jr. found here, here, and here.

A friend of mine is a Stonewall Democrat .  She said the Democrat Congress candidate was helping her and some sensible friends start a club.  I think she meant Frank.  I have not decided just yet, but Frank looks awfully good!

Valentine's Day, Civil Marriage is Our Right Day in Annapolis and Disappointment from Tuesday

~~HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY~~

So pretty.  I adore this colorful clash of love.

Today was also our marriage as a civil right day in Annapolis.  Senator Madaleno has done a wonderful job building on the late Senator Britt's strenuous efforts to give us equality.  Senator Madaleno has act 290 the Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Protection Act.

Thank you Senator Madaleno and happy day of love to you and your partner.  You have been such a tireless advocate since your days with Free State Justice.

I cried when intolerant Andy won.  I really thought our Congressman, our defender of our civil rights would prevail.   Now I see that intolerant Andy was hanging out with the king of intolerance~~Rush Limbaugh.

I think Wayne~our real Congressman~pegged that chicken-necker just right

"A concession amounts to rewarding unseemly behavior," Gilchrest said. "I'm not bitter, but my God, what's happened to democracy? It's a clear sign the party is split between dogma and tolerance."
http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/nation/politics/bal-te.md.first14feb14,0,7555372.story

I want to hear from my readers.  What should I do?  I really can not see myself voting for intolerant Andy, but Frank Kratovil hangs out with the wrong crowd (~taxer Martin O'Malley).  Do I stay home?  Talk to me people!!!!

"The majority of this district is going to find (Harris') views extreme on a whole host of issues," Kratovil said. "I think my views are more similar to the mainstream views of this district. I'm much closer to Gilchrest than Harris."

I think Frank is right here.  I just do not know.

Endorsement: ~~~Wayne Gilchrest, the sensible choice~~~!!!!!

Friends and fellow bloggers, the clear choice for the Shore is Wayne Gilchrest.  Congressman Gilchrest represents our civil rights, the environment and recognizes that our district is a tolerant and progressive Republican area.

Courageous fighter for civil rights:

NARAL (Pro-Choice with our bodies) MARYLAND

1 Wayne Gilchrest 100

Log Cabin wants to recognize some courageous Republicans who have stood up for basic fairness and, in the process, risked their seats to do the right thing.  Unfortunately, over the last couple years, too many politicians have tried to use gay and lesbian people to score political points.  Some Republicans though have stood up to the voices of intolerance.  They put their elected offices on the line to stand up for basic fairness and common decency.   We respect their courage and recognize these GOP leaders—these men and women who represent the future of our party.

Andy Harris?  A nasty bigot with a horrible anti-civil rights agenda.  He should be ashamed to call himself a Republican.  DO NOT vote for Andy Harris.  He is against our fight for equality with marriage, he is against a woman's right to choose and he hates immigrants.  Say NO to INTOLERANT ANDY!  When I think of Andy images like these come to mind!

Memo to Michael at MonoBlogue|RedMaryland: Andy is an intolerant bigot

Memo to Michael at MonoBlogue|RedMaryland:  Andy Harris is an intolerant bigot!

Michael at Monoblogue|RedMaryland raised his problem with me

The issue I take with the author of Mainstream Shore is her characterization of Andy Harris as "intolerant" and a "mean-spirited bigot" because he tends to vote against items near and dear to the gay and lesbian population. Personally, I really don't care all that much whether consenting adults who sleep together are of the same sex, I'm just not a big fan of condoning same-sex marriage and the like.

Michael, why can we sleep in the same bed, but not enjoy the same rights as you?

Andy IS intolerant:

State Sen. Andy Harris wants to oust Wayne Gilchrest because, as he says in a fundraising letter, the congressman believes gays should be able to get married, adopt kids and promote their lifestyle to your children.

In 2006, the Human Rights Campaign gave Gilchrest a score of 67 out of a possible 100. The state’s other Republican representative, Roscoe Bartlett, scored a zero. Gilchrest scored higher than Maryland Democrat Dutch Ruppersberger that same year.Equality Maryland, the state’s real LGBT civil rights group, accused Harris of a similar ploy in November 2006, when he when ran against Democratic challenger Pat Foerster. During that election, constituents in the conservative district received middle-of-the-night robo calls from the nonexistent Gay and Lesbian Push, urging them to support Foerster. Equality Maryland complained at the time.

Michael at MonoBlogue|RedMaryland asks:

Why does it matter?  My recommended reading is John Corvino who explains it for people like Michael here.

More proof that Intolerant Andy is behind those pink flyers!

According to this news article, Andy Harris attacked Wayne Gilchrest because Wayne stood up for our civil liberties.  Intolerant Andy sent out a fundraising letter that said~

In case you missed it~the leading voice against equality and basic civil rights~James Dobson~ endorsed Andy Harris

James Dobson ~~ a leading voice against equality ~~ endorsed Andy Harris today.  Dobson eschews modern day Jim Cronyism and in his endorsement of Andy Harris said:

There are other major concerns, as well. Rep. Gilchrest opposes the Federal Marriage Amendment, which would protect traditional marriage from attacks by gay activists. He has also voted to allow homosexuals to adopt children.

In stark contrast to Rep. Gilchrest, Dr. Andy Harris would be a splendidpro-family, pro-life voice in the House-just as he has been in the Maryland Senate.
Intolerant Endorsement.

Bud at the No BS Zone asks is Andy Harris a pervert?

ShoreIndie shows why Andy Harris is not more palatable than Wayne Gilchrest.  Harris is a Dobsonesque bigot.

Weekly Roundup~~Red Maryland's hamstrung attempt to smear Wayne; Delmarva Dealings predicts Wayne; O'Malley holds grudges

Help these people if you want the extreme in Washington.

Our friends over at Red Maryland are trying to explain away Andy Harris' army of bigots.  Wayne is part of the Republican Main Street Partnership, the moderate and sensible Republicans under our big tent.

Delmarva Dealings thinks Wayne will make it through the primary.

With this anti-civil rights posting, Maryland Chesapeake Blog must be an Andy Harris fan.

Switching subjects my friends.  Martin O'Malley is taking out his grudges on state lawmakers.  O'Malley is upset that we do not like taxation and continues to support Hillary Clinton.

Funny moment of the week~~ Wesley Snipes beats the IRS.

Reader question and answer

A reader wrote an e-mail to me (mainstreamshore@gmail.com)

Question~How do we know Wayne really cares about our civil rights fight?  Why are you     against Pipkin now?

Answer~Wayne Gilchrest graciously met with us at the 2006 LC Convention in Washington.  He also voted for our Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevent Act (H.R. 1592)last year.  And Wayne supported repealing the stupid don't ask, don't tell law.

The Log Cabin tells it:

Rep. Wayne Gilchrest (R-MD)- Rep. Gilchrest has served in Congress since 1990.  He has twice voted against the anti-family marriage amendment and has supported hate crimes measures.  Gilchrest also is a co-sponsor of the Military Readiness Enhancement Act, which would allow gays and lesbians to serve openly in the armed forces.

Congressman Gilchrest has courageously defended freedom and fairness for all Americans during more than 15 years in Congress. He stood with Log Cabin in 2004 and 2006 by voting against the anti-family marriage amendment. Congressman Gilchrest is also one of Log Cabin’s strongest allies in the fight to end the military’s discriminatory "Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell" policy. He is a co-sponsor of the Military Readiness Enhancement Act, which would allow gays and lesbians to serve openly in the armed forces. He said, "Not only does it [Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell] take money away from purchasing armor for Humvees, there’s a lot of very skilled people that are being taken out of the military who are hard to replace."

Wayne's with us.  He will fight for our civil rights.  He is a sensible Republican with traits all voters should want.  I do not get this EJ vibe.  He has fought for some of our civil rights and deserves our thanks.

Helping out Wayne...

Many of you know I am leaning towards Wayne now.  Together we can defeat that mean-spirited bigot~ Andy Harris.  The national Log Cabin has asked us to help Wayne out on Saturday because Wayne has stuck up for our civil rights.  I will answer the call.  Will you?

Gilchrest

"1. Please join Log Cabin members and allies this Saturday as we campaign for Congressman Wayne Gilchrest (MD-1). As you know, he's facing a difficult primary challenge on February 12th. He's a strong Log Cabin ally. Our recent fund-raiser provided important support to him for this race. Now we're helping with some grassroots campaigning. This Saturday, we'll be organizing a group to help campaign in the district. We're leaving DC at 8:15 am (sharp) to meet the campaign team in Severna Park, MD (about an hour from DC). We'll be dispatched to wave signs at high traffic intersections until noon. Then we'll meet the Congressman for a lunch that he's having with volunteers. Those who want to stay longer can go door to door in the afternoon.

If you can participate, please RSVP to Jimmy LaSalvia jlasalvia@logcabin.org. If you need a ride or if you can drive others, please let us know. We'll coordinate details with you."

Our  civil rights hero needs our support.

If you can't come, here are  10 things you can do to help Wayne.

Congratulations Wayne for winning the Log Cabin Republican's Recognized Republican Hero!!!!!

Our national Log Cabin organization has recognized Wayne Gilchrest as a Republican Hero.  Congratulations to Wayne!  This should make my decision easier.
